As a Cloud Engineer/DevOps Consultant with Adastra you will engineer and develop compliant cloud solutions that can be used by customer teams to host their big data solutions and other services on public cloud infrastructure. Deliverables include the development of integration code to integrate internally developed solutions as well as vendor products and services. This includes automated testing and delivery of these components. Initially, the role will be focused on the development and engineering of Amazon AWS / MS Azure / Google Cloud products for automated data solutions.

Your responsibilities

  • Help with engineering public cloud solutions (such as AWS, GCP or Azure) for use by customer teams
  • Development of scripts and code which define infrastructure as code (e.g. Terraform, Ansible, etc.)
  • Engineering of operating system configuration with Linux and Microsoft machines
  • Inputs for architecture decisions and software choices
  • Engineering and configuring of CI/CD pipelines using GitHub actions, Bamboo, Concourse or any other CI/CD tool
  • Reading and writing documentation and specifications
  • Active participation in agile software development (standups, Jira, Git, code reviews, etc.)

Your qualifications

  • A university degree in computer science, business informatics, business administration with an IT focus or in a a comparable course of study
  • 4+ years of experience in IT (overall with at-least 2+ years in cloud environments)
  • Cloud experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), MS Azure or GCP
  • Hands-on experience in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Terraform or Ansible
  • Good familiarity with Linux
  • Solid understanding of cloud architectures
  • Experience with CI/CD tools, such as Git, Bit bucket, Bamboo, Concourse, Jenkins etc.

Nice-To-Have:

  • Other Infrastructure as Code tools, such as Ansible or CloudFormation
  • Associate level certification in AWS or Azure
  • Familiarity with other cloud services like GCP and OpenShift 
  • Hands-on experience with Containers (Docker, Kubernetes, EKS)
  • Experience with any programming language, for example Python or Java or Scala
